DWF expands Financial Services offering with double partner appointment

11 November 2021

DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, have appointed Corporate Crime expert, Euros Jones, and Real Estate Finance specialist, Simon Sharp to its rapidly expanding Finance & Restructuring Group.

Euros Jones joins DWF's London office to lead and grow the Corporate Crime offering within DWF's global Compliance, Regulatory and Investigations team. He arrives from Weightmans where he was a Partner and Head of the Business Crime Group, having created and developed that firm's financial and complex crime offering.

Euros represents corporate and individual clients across a broad spectrum of criminal and regulatory issues. He is experienced in multi-jurisdictional investigations and matters with multi-agency involvement, including investigations conducted by the SFO, NCA, HMRC and their foreign counterparts. He has regularly defended clients under investigation for corruption, serious fraud, direct and indirect tax fraud and money-laundering.

Euros also conducts and advises corporates on internal investigations and advises companies and their directors on governance issues. He helps clients to avoid financial crime risks in a wide range of scenarios, advising on compliance with Corporate Crime legislation and the implementation of preventative measures with a particular focus on anti-bribery, money laundering and tax evasion.

Euros is one of the leading practitioners in corporate crime and has been consistently ranked in the legal directories within this field. His appointment closely follows the addition of Alexander Gorst as a Senior Associate, who specialises in financial crime, fraud, regulatory investigations and prosecutions, and will work alongside Euros in expanding DWF's Corporate Crime offering.

Simon Sharp joins DWF's London office as a partner in the Finance and Restructuring practice. Simon arrives from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.

Simon is renowned for his work across all forms of real estate finance, acting for both lenders and borrowers including a range of financial institutions, debt funds and national and international sponsors.

Simon has significant experience of senior and mezzanine loans and structures and advises on investment and development transactions secured on the full spectrum of real estate asset classes including offices, residential, student accommodation, hotels, build to rent, logistics and retail.  Simon is experienced at handling complex intercreditor arrangements and dealing with real estate joint ventures and restructurings.

Wayne Lawrence, Global Head of Commercial, Regulatory and Data at DWF, commented, "We are delighted that Euros has joined to lead and grow our Corporate Crime offering as we see more corporate clients requiring support in corporate investigations and responding to detailed requests for information. Euros is very well placed to support our clients with a range of enquiries by agencies both nationally and internationally."

Iain Shurwood, Global Head of Finance and Restructuring at DWF, also added, "We are very excited to have Simon join the group. This is yet another exciting hire for the London team and demonstrates our commitment to the Real Estate Finance market and our clients. Simon brings a very complimentary set of skills, further strengthening our offering to our clients both in the London market and globally."

Commenting on his appointment, Euros said, "I am delighted to be joining DWF's Compliance, Regulatory and Investigations team and adding to its Corporate Crime offering. DWF is investing heavily in this area and I am excited to be able to play my part in the firm's growth, development and success."

Simon added, "I am very excited to be joining the London team at a time when DWF is strengthening its practice in this area.  DWF is exceptionally well placed to meet the requirements of clients in the Real Estate Finance market through its City, national and international infrastructure as well as its ever growing depth of talent in this area and I very much look forward to playing my part in this."
