Experience

Kelsey is an experienced General Insurance lawyer, with over seven years of expertise in defending both litigated and unlitigated claims. Throughout her career, Kelsey has handled a diverse range of claims, spanning public liability, institutional abuse litigation, healthcare, property damage, professional indemnity and coverage. Her extensive experience spans multiple states, including New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania.

In the public liability space, Kelsey advises a range of industry groups including sport, trades and construction, hospitality, leisure, retail, cleaning, aged care, security, churches and schools. 

Kelsey has represented various institutions including schools, religious institutions, foster care facilities, community clubs and uninsured 'successor' institutions, in institutional abuse claims. Kelsey has also assisted in the preparation of responses to requests for information in the National Redress Scheme. 

Clients benefit from her proactive approach to claims management, which consistently achieves cost savings and practical outcomes. Her commitment to maintaining high service standards is matched by her dedication to building lasting client partnerships and her responsiveness to their needs.

  • Advising principals and subcontractors on complex, multi-party claims involving significant workplace injuries, with experience navigating workers’ compensation recoveries, contractual complexities, and insurance overlaps.
  • Defending security contractors and hoteliers facing claims of intentional torts.
  • Supporting sporting bodies in managing injury claims from both competitions and training, often addressing issues such as dangerous recreational activities, waivers, and the application of obvious risk defences.
  • Guiding organisations and businesses through the aftermath of critical incidents, including matters involving nervous shock and claims for compensation by relatives.
  • Assisting aged care providers in responding to allegations of negligence.
  • Representing a range of institutions, such as schools, religious bodies, foster care agencies, community clubs, and uninsured successor organisations, in negligence actions (including institutional abuse claims).
