James advises regulated firms and investors on a broad range of UK financial services regulatory matters. His experience spans wealth management, consumer credit and mortgage intermediation, with a particular focus on FCA regulation.James regularly advises on regulatory due diligence exercises in connection with acquisitions, investments and corporate transactions involving FCA-authorised businesses. This includes reviewing FCA correspondence, regulatory permissions, governance and control arrangements, customer-facing processes and conduct-related risks arising in corporate transactions.
He also advises on a range of day-to-day regulatory matters, including Consumer Duty, regulatory perimeter issues, customer transfer projects and the regulatory implications of changes to firms' business models, products and services.
In addition, James has experience advising on engagement with the FCA, matters involving FCA permissions and restrictions, and the interpretation and application of FCA Handbook requirements in complex regulatory scenarios.
James works closely with regulated firms and investors to provide practical and commercially focused advice on contentious and non-contentious regulatory matters, strategic projects and business-critical regulatory issues.
