Experience

Barney is part of DWF's Global Casualty and Property insurance team working out of the London and Bristol offices on an agile basis.

He has over 15 years of experience in acting for insurers handling complex and financially significant casualty, property and energy related disputes both within the U.K. and internationally.

The majority of Barney's instructions involve liability, quantum and coverage issues caused by, for example, negligent design, breakdown, explosion, fire and flood and have included the alleged negligent design of marine structures and heat transfer plants, the poor operation, breakdown and maintenance of oil platforms, power stations, gas and steam turbines and dredging barges and fire and flood damage suffered by thermal recycling plants, film sets, industrial equipment, production facilities, warehouses and commercial property.

Barney has significant experience of pursuing litigation before the Technology & Construction and Commercial Courts and has had cases proceeding to the Court of Appeal. He is, however, a keen exponent of ADR and has attended numerous arbitrations and mediations both in the U.K. and overseas.
