My role as a Senior Legal Delivery Manager

Read Katy Wilson's story about her time at DWF so far.

Please tell us about your job role

I have worked at DWF now for over six months. My job title is Senior Legal Delivery Manager and my main responsibilities are to operationally lead both the UK Delivery Centre Hub and Lender Services teams to provide excellent service to our clients, whilst delivering financial performance. I have overall responsibility for the delivery of all the managed legal services across both teams including an evolving range of products, services and work types, whilst ensuring high performance through efficient people and resource management, as well as effective implementation of legal technology solutions.

Please tell us about the team you work with

I operationally manage two teams within the UK (Lender Services and Delivery Centre). In addition, I work closely with the Legal Operations team in Pune and with the Recoveries team based in our Leeds office.

I currently have eight direct reports that range from Legal Delivery Team Leads, Legal Delivery Managers and our Commercial Contract Manager

The teams are both very diverse in terms of personnel, abilities and the work that they do. Together they provide the perfect platform to support paralegals succession and progression within the business and we have the ability to give our paralegals access to multiple and varied areas of law which they wouldn’t get in most other firms. In terms of my personal role it means every day for me is varied and I could be working on many, wide ranging projects and tasks which really keeps the days interesting and varied.

Why did you join DWF?

I was approached with the role and agreed to an interview having read the job description. Following my initial interview with my manager and my previous role incumbent, I could not help but feel that the morals, values and direction of this business and the division really resonated with me, and all of these things aligned with the thoughts I had, about the direction of how law firms should be moving. It was at this point that I really wanted to move to DWF.

Following the interview and hearing the direction and the differing services and offerings that Legal Operations had to offer, I just knew that this was definitely a firm I wanted to be part of. It is a law firm that is pushing the boundaries and operating and moving within the times, the technology and methodologies and the innovation of the teams and firm as a whole were a real pull!

What do you enjoy most about working at DWF?

I really enjoy working at DWF. The environment is inclusive, relaxed, diverse yet maintains that professionalism everyone would expect of a law firm. There is genuine feeling that this firm wants to support your progression and this is seen by the number of different opportunities and events that you can be involved with. My role is very diverse and I love that every day is different for me.

I am working within a division of the company that has a clear direction, they are challenging convention and delivering change which is really exciting to be a part of!
