Ethical Business

In a global context, rules governing business conduct can vary from region to region and country to country, but our values transcend these differences.

Most businesses are financially driven, and it is possible to be both ethical and successful. There is a fine line between making choices for financial gain and making choices that will not adversely affect others.

Here is how we make sure we abide by ethics and encourage an equal workplace as well as continue to progress.

What is an ethical business?

Business ethics concerns ethical dilemmas or controversial issues faced by a company. Often, business ethics involve a system of practices and procedures that help build trust with the consumer. On one level, some business ethics are embedded in the law, such as

These are the aspects of business that are governed by law, in regards to minimum standards. Other times business ethics provide a basic guideline that businesses can choose to follow to gain public approval.

Here at DWF, we don’t want to just do the bare minimum. We take business ethics very seriously and want ethical values to define how we work.

Culture

Our culture plays a significant part and treating each other with mutual respect and dignity is an expectation across our business.

We have built an inclusive culture where different points of view can be expressed and respected and we work hard to protect this by empowering our employees to take action to make others feel included and challenge if behaviour fails to live up to our shared values.

This approach is nurtured through our comprehensive Code of Conduct policies, training and communication across the business.

Identifying concerns

We are committed to maintaining an open culture with the highest standards of honesty and accountability.

Speak Up is an online and phone-based system provided by Convercent which allows every employee to raise a concern about a genuine suspicion of malpractice or wrongdoing within the DWF Group. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in all languages.

Our Speak Up policy outlines the process to raise a concern about wrongdoing, safe in the knowledge that it will be investigated promptly and effectively.

Addressing Issues

Our Business Excellence team provides independent assurance across the business and actively manages any compliance concerns regarding bribery, corruption and fraud internally and externally.

DWF launched Business Excellence in July 2014 which has enabled us to develop best practice ways of working. We have established a network of Excellence Champions across the business with whom we work closely to minimise issues within the business and drive improvement.
