DWF further enhances arbitration expertise with new partner appointment in London

31 October 2024

DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has welcomed Poupak Anjomshoaa as a new partner in London.

With an impressive career spanning 28 years in international arbitration and dispute resolution, Poupak brings a wealth of experience to DWF.

Having trained as a barrister at Keating Chambers, Poupak has practised at several leading law firms, including Pinsent Masons, White & Case, Norton Rose Fulbright and Baker Botts.  She has also worked in house as the General Counsel of a petrochemicals company headquartered in the MENA region.

Throughout her career, Poupak has advised and represented clients in high-value international arbitrations and pre-contentious disputes across various sectors, including construction, petrochemicals, energy, mining, and infrastructure. Her extensive experience includes handling complex commercial disputes arising from project documents such as EPC contracts, supply and offtake agreements, government support agreements, and equity subscription and shareholder agreements.

Poupak has been recognised in Best Lawyers for International Arbitration and has been included in every edition of the Lawdragon 500 Leading Global Litigators since its inception. She is also an active member of the London International Dispute Week (LIDW) strategy committee.

Poupak's appointment follows the recent additions of partners Brian Kotick, Yolanda Walker and Solomon Ebere to DWF’s growing international arbitration team. Brian, who joined earlier this year, focuses on work in the Middle East, while Solomon and Yolanda who joined in 2023, concentrate on work in Africa.

Commenting on her appointment, Poupak said: "I joined DWF because I was drawn to its dynamic and impressive growth, as demonstrated by its geographical reach and bench strength which it has established in a relatively short period of time.

"DWF's strong presence in the Middle East and Africa complements my practice, which has focused on disputes emanating from these regions over the past 14 years, whilst the energetic and entrepreneurial international arbitration team aligns perfectly with my interests in energy, infrastructure, mining, and construction. The international arbitration partners in London, Germany, Poland, and the UAE are involved in some very interesting and complex disputes and I am looking forward to contributing to the group's efforts and successes in the coming years."

Stefan Paciorek, global head of dispute resolution, added: "We are delighted to welcome Poupak to our team. Her extensive expertise in international arbitration and dispute resolution will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our business. We look forward to the valuable contributions she will make as we continue to expand our global reach and capabilities."
