Rome has handled occupier’s liability claims in many contexts and understands the context specific nuances that arise in defending these actions. Rome heads up the sports liability practice group, with a practice focussed on claims arising from sporting and recreational activities. Rome’s construction practice has focused on acting for contractors, owners and design professionals in negotiations and disputes. Rome is well versed in contractual drafting and negotiation, with an emphasis on construction matters.In his litigation practice, Rome aims to resolve matters for his clients in the most efficient manner possible, including through informal negotiations and formal mediations. He has successfully resolved numerous complex multi-party actions, disputes and catastrophic injury claims through mediation. When resolution can’t be reached on a reasonable basis, Rome is experienced trial counsel and enjoys diligently preparing and strenuously advocating to get his clients the best results. He has successfully conducted numerous trials before the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Provincial Court, along with successful appearances before the Court of Appeal. He has also appeared in the Provincial and Superior Court of Ontario and has successfully advocated before several tribunals in British Columbia and Ontario.

Romany has contributed to and written articles and papers on contribution and indemnity claims in professional liability actions, products liability matters, Sale of Goods Act claims, retail risk matters, discovery issues, professional liability and construction issues. While in Ontario, Romany wrote a number of articles on the topics of civil litigation and insurance issues.
