Experience

Renee is an Associate in the Casualty team in the Brisbane office. Renee’s core practice involves defending personal injury claims under Queensland legislation, including PIPA and WCRA, and advising on liability and indemnity issues for insurers and corporate clients. She also handles property damage disputes and is actively expanding her expertise in professional indemnity matters.

Before entering the legal profession, Renee spent more than 25 years as a general insurance broker, giving her a deep understanding of the insurance industry and its commercial drivers. This experience brings a pragmatic perspective to her legal work, enabling her to anticipate insurer priorities and navigate claims with a strong appreciation of risk, compliance, and stakeholder expectations.

Renee is passionate about pro bono work, which she views as essential for promoting access to justice. Her involvement in pro bono matters has broadened her exposure to diverse legal issues and strengthened her commitment to community service.

She also has a keen interest in technology and its impact on law and insurance. While studying law, Renee completed a Diploma of Applied Blockchain and is particularly interested in how emerging technologies will influence risk, compliance, and professional indemnity claims in the future.

Collaborative by nature, Renee values strong client relationships and thrives in DWF’s supportive team environment, where knowledge-sharing and practical problem-solving are central to achieving the best outcomes.
