In the midst of the pandemic, DWF looked at alternative ways to ensure there was minimal impact on the learning and development of those within the insurance sector.
We recently hosted a successful and informative mock trial with an external audience of over 200 delegates.
The trial was a great learning exercise for young insurance professionals and explored a number of issues including:
- Liability dispute;
- Contributory negligence;
- PSLA arguments;
- Credibility cross-examinations;
- Credit hire issues;
- Section 57 Findings;
- Non-party costs.
Feedback from the session was really positive, with one Senior Associate saying it was "one of the best sessions they have sat in on for a while" and also "an extremely useful exercise for junior litigators".

Frances Lawley (Head of the PI Team in DWF Advocacy) played the role of judge and Daniel Tresigne & Danny King (both barristers within DWF Advocacy) were the combatants. With additional thanks to those who helped run this session: Colin Bushell, Lauren France, Tina Clarke and Ben Harper.
DWF's core values are centred on innovation and co-operation; namely, 'disrupt to progress' and 'be better together'. The collaboration between these two internal DWF teams resulted in the delivery of a successful client event epitomising those two values.
