Top 5 reasons why I enjoy working at DWF

Marissa Brock, Special Counsel in the Brisbane office, talks about how she enjoys working at DWF because of the many different opportunities and people she's working with.

Supportive environment
I've worked at DWF for just over a year, and during that time I've had the opportunity to receive specialist training to become a mental health first aid officer here in Brisbane. Because of this, I've been able to provide advice and a safe space for colleagues who have needed support. Also as a woman in the legal industry, I've seen a genuine commitment to ensuring the retention and promotion of women in the business, not only in Australia but globally. I am fully supported and inspired to get involved in various initiatives and have the opportunity to work on multi-jurisdictional cases.
Hybrid working
Hybrid working is very important to me, especially because I have parental obligations. It has also allowed me to have more autonomy with my work-life balance. I am encouraged to work flexibly from either office or home, and my team and senior management are very supportive and understanding!
Work opportunities
I've had amazing opportunities to work with colleagues across many different locations globally. I've assisted on international matters and even extended holidays by spending some time working from an overseas office location. The networking opportunities available have allowed me to work on a broad range of cases with colleagues at different stages of their careers.  The knowledge and experience from colleagues have had an impact on the cases we’ve worked on, and I've personally enjoyed learning from them. Working with my colleagues has really shown that as a team we are committed to achieving the best results for our clients.
Diversity & Inclusion and CSR
I take every opportunity to support local initiatives, as D&I is very important to me. I've had the opportunity to utilise our volunteer days to raise much needed funds for Wesley Mission and Braille House, as well as participate in a renovation project with Habitat for Humanity by revamping a women's DV shelter in Brisbane.
My colleagues
My favourite thing about DWF is my amazing colleagues. Talent attracts talented people – and our team has exceptionally talented and passionate legal professionals that make the business a great place to work.
