  • Single enforcement body - New watchdog to protect workers' rights: The government has committed to create a single enforcement body as set out in the Good Work Plan. Read the insight >
  • Gender-critical views amount to a 'philosophical belief' under the Equality Act: The EAT has held in Forstater v CGD Europe and ors that 'gender-critical' beliefs, including a belief that biological sex is real and immutable and not to be conflated with gender identity, are protected under the Equality Act 2010 and Article 9 of the ECHR.   • Delay in easing COVID-19 restrictions will be a setback for employers: Our comment on the latest jobs market figures published by the ONS, which shows that the UK employment rate is estimated at 75.2% between February 2021 and April 2021, 0.2% higher than the previous quarter, whilst the unemployment rate is estimated at 4.7%, 0.3% lower than the previous quarter.   • Health and safety detriment protection extended to workers: The Employment Rights Act 1996 (Protection from Detriment in Health and Safety Cases) (Amendment) Order 2021 extends protection against detriment to workers from 31 May 2021. Read the insight >
