Championing Global Accessibility Awareness Day

11 May 2022

DWF mark Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) by raising greater awareness of the concept of accessibility and the support options available to all our colleagues.

At DWF a key part of our Global D&I Strategy is ownership. We appreciate how essential it is to incorporate D&I considerations into our work and the way we operate.

Celebrated on 19 May each year, Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) was created to get people thinking about digital accessibility. It's about removing barriers and ensuring that people with disabilities have the same access and opportunities as everyone else.

For GAAD 2022, Diverse Ability, DWF's Disability Employee Network, have pulled together a programme of internal and external resources to support our colleagues understand the concept of accessibility and how important it is to consider the user journeys of others in everything we do.

Activities undertaken to mark Global Accessibility Awareness Day include:

  • 'Celebrating Neurodiversity' internal webinar. This will provide attendees with information on the basics of neurodiversity and will include guest speakers from DWF sharing their experiences and advice on accessibility. The session will also provide information and advise on workplace adjustments that DWF colleagues can access. The event has been scheduled with global colleagues in mind and a recording will be made available for those in alternative time zones.
  • We have shared the catalogue of global events from the Global Accessibility Awareness Website providing content relevant and accessible to our colleagues in different countries.
  • We are sharing reminders on key resources and support available to all colleagues requiring workplace adjustments to help them perform at their best including our new workplace adjustment guide and our flexible working policy.
