While there have been a handful of significant GDPR fines, Data Protection regulatory enforcement action continues to stagnate, but momentum for compensation claims and litigation is increasing. The Privacy Activist and the Claims Farms seem to be on the same side of the pitch, utilising the same legal mechanisms in the same areas of the law, for the same reasons, to create legal accountability for perceived infringement of Data Protection, Privacy and Cyber Security laws and failures of operational good practice.
In the UK, social media campaigns to drum-up claimants for group litigation are now a fact of life, while privacy activists are pursuing pan-European legal campaigns to pursue their agendas. Underpinning both models are complex economic frameworks, where the farmer and the activist can be reliant on the same funders to pursue businesses and governments alike.
In this session of the Tech and Data Leaders Forum we will bring you right up to date with the latest developments in data and security-related claims and litigation, showing you the linkages between seemingly disparate and disconnected events, the legislative mechanisms that provide rocket fuel for a new legal order and the special characteristics of Adverse Scrutiny that you need to understand and address now.
