Subsidy Control: How will public funding change now the UK has taken back control of State aid regulation?

Date: 12 January 2021, 11:00 - 12:30
Location: Online Webinar
The new Subsidy Control regime will have a significant impact on the way awards of public funding are made. To help with this, our award-winning Subsidy Control and State aid law team will deliver a webinar setting out the new requirements at 11am on Tuesday 12 January 2021.

Event Details

Just before Christmas 2020 the UK and the EU agreed a new Trade & Cooperation Agreement to govern EU/UK trade going forwards. This includes an all-important chapter on subsidy control. At 11pm on 31 December 2020, the direct effectiveness of EU State aid law in the UK ended, and the UK Government's new "Subsidy Control" regime came into force.

The UK Government has published new guidance papers for working with the new Subsidy Control regime. As of now, public sector organisations awarding subsidies in the UK need to take account of the new rules. This includes taking into account the impact of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, the WTO Anti-Subsidy and Countervailing Measures Agreement, new government guidance and, where relevant in certain cases, the EU State aid rules.

The new regime will have a significant impact on the way awards of public funding are made. To help with this, our award winning Subsidy Control and State aid law team will deliver a webinar setting out the new requirements at 11am on Tuesday 12 January 2021. It will therefore be of interest to those involved in awarding grants or other subsidies within the Public Sector, as well as businesses looking into applying for public sector support to their activities and investments.

This event is one of a series of critical Brexit webinars that DWF is hosting throughout January. Look out for more details throughout the month or contact us to book your place.

The next event in this series will cover 'How to ensure your supply chain attracts tariff free trade with the EU', find out more here >
