Experience
Matthew is a member of Inner Temple having been called in 2021, after completing the Bar Training Course at BPP Leeds in 2021 with a grade of Merit. He also was awarded an Upper Second Class Law LLB at the University of York.
Matthew has over three years of experience as a self-employed county court advocate, having appeared in more than 1,800 civil hearings. His advocacy spans a wide range of complex matters including small claims trials, housing possession proceedings, consumer credit disputes, OIC claims, consumer rights, bankruptcy, and interim applications.
Before joining DWF Chambers, Matthew volunteered with Support Through Court in Manchester, assisting unrepresented individuals with court documentation and access to legal advice. He also contributed to legal advice clinics, where he was responsible for interviewing clients and drafting tailored advice letters.
Outside of law, Matthew takes an interest in local elections and works as a Presiding Officer for the local polling stations. He is also a keen hiker and gym-goer, often found exploring the outdoors with his dog at the weekend.
