DWF named in Times Top 50 Employers for Women

30 July 2020

DWF, the global legal business, has been chosen as one of fifty progressive employers leading the way by making gender equality integral to its core business strategy.

In DWF's first submission to this ranking DWF has been recognised as a top employer; in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2020 ranking.

The Times list acknowledges UK employers that are making gender equality a crucial part of their business strategy, with a consistent commitment to creating inclusive workplace cultures and progressing women in the workplace that covers their entire organisation at all levels.

The Times Top 50 Employers for Women is published in partnership with Business in the Community, the Prince’s Responsible Business Network, as part of the charity’s Responsible Business Week.

Commenting on the achievement, Mollie Stoker, General Counsel and Executive Sponsor for Gender at DWF said: "Achieving gender balance and equality at DWF is a priority business issue and we are delighted to receive recognition of our progress in the Times Top 50 Employers for Women listing."

The selection and assessment process focuses on transparency, the causes behind gender gaps, what companies are doing to address these structural issues and the impact of their actions. The evaluation includes, but is not limited to, roles of senior leaders, actions to increase the representation of women in senior positions, supporting parents and carers, and stopping bullying and harassment.

One of the ways DWF is striving to achieve a gender-equal world is by creating actions and initiatives that support its global diversity targets that commit to increasing female representation at Board and senior leadership level. This year DWF has also run several campaigns including 'Each for Equal' International Women's Day engaging 1,000 people globally, inspiring 150 students and collaborated with clients to progress gender balance.

DWF also ranked among the Top Ten Employers for Working Families. Work-life balance charity Working Families announced its annual list of the top family-friendly employers in the UK in October.

Stephen Miles, CEO Commercial Services and Executive Sponsor for Gender at DWF added: "Over the next year, we will continue to embed our diversity & inclusion targets, eliminating bias in our work environment and championing equality of opportunity for our female colleagues when mapping our pipeline of talent and succession planning."

Charlotte Woodworth, Gender Equality Campaign Director at BITC said: “Business in the Community’s Times Top 50 Employers for Women list is the longest running and most widely respected award for employers committed to achieving equality for women at work. This year marks ten years of the awards, and the bar was especially high. A decade of expertise and experience underpins Business In the Community’s assessment, which sees organisations reviewed across a wide range of areas including transparency around pay practices, family friendly policies and to what extent the gender equality agenda is embedded into wider strategy.”

DWF will be featured in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women supplement. The full list of The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2020 can be found online here >
