Employment team host disability discrimination mock tribunal

27 November 2019
The employment team at DWF recently ran a 'Mock Employment Tribunal' in conjunction with The Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (ENEI) on the issue of neurodiversity and reasonable adjustments in the workplace.

Depending on the facts of each case the following conditions have all been recognised as disabilities in the Employment Tribunal:

  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Dyspraxia
  • Dyslexia
  • Dyscalculia

The law on disability discrimination is complex. Neuro-divergent conditions are sometimes classed as "hidden disabilities". During the 'Mock Employment Tribunal' we explored when employers are deemed to have knowledge of the disability and what reasonable adjustments might be appropriate.

We are seeing more and more cases involving neurodiverse conditions, if you have any questions on this issue or any other employment law related matter please do not hesitate to contact a member of the DWF employment team.
