Ready, steady, sandcastle! Mindcrest brings the sandbox to Legal Geek Conference 2022

04 October 2022

Attracting 2,500 legal tech and legal operations gurus, Legal Geek took London by storm last week (27 and 28 September) with its impressive line-up of speakers including DWF's very own Mindcrest and Innovations and Ventures teams.

As proud sponsors, Mindcrest attended the show with an engaging beach inspired exhibition stand created about the 'sandbox' concept, a term used in the legal tech market.

Adorned in Hawaiian-style shirts, the Mindcrest team shunned the otherwise chilly autumn weather bringing a much needed sunny infusion of ice cream, candy floss, beach balls and sand to the event!

Attendees took part in a sandcastle competition with the winner whereby whoever built the most sandcastles in 20 seconds got to choose the charity to which we will make a donation of £500 on their behalf.  After some VERY tough competition, Claire McGourlay of University of Manchester was not going to lose and with a whopping 34 sandcastles beat off the competition in just 20 seconds. Participants learned that, just like legal tech, using the right tools, innovating and trying again (not giving up!) makes quite the difference.

Speaking at the event was Rachita Maker, Mindcrest’s Global Head of Legal Operations, Consulting & Technology, talked about how  “Using Legal Tech as a Secret Weapon,” is something everyone should embrace. Dressed as the superhero Wonder Woman, Rachita showed how effectively using these tools can save the day.

On another stage, Innovation and Ventures colleagues, Jason Dunning, Nikita Patel and Katy Sidebotham led an iterative workshop titled "Ready, steady, contract" using the red pepper/green tomato voting concept from UK TV show, "ready, steady, cook".   The workshop was facilitated by their colleagues Erin Alexander-McGowan, Will Lloyd and Jonathan Patterson.

Altogether, representing the business at the conference were Craig Chaplin, Ben Cooke, Donna McEnery, Julia Perez, Zelinda Bennett, Emma Roe, Nadia Zegze, Bhavya Rawal, Ainsley Ledgerton, Jay DunningJonathan Patterson, Erin Alexander-McGowan, Katy Sidebotham and Will Lloyd. This group spread the message loud and clear to the attendees about all of the innovative solutions the DWF Group has to offer, especially how Mindcrest can help improve their organizations' internal operations.

Following two great days at the conference, the group traveled back to their respective offices energized by the event and the people they met.
