Laura McCorquodale

Partner, Edinburgh

Laura is a Partner in DWF’s Construction and Infrastructure team, where she specialises in advising on high-value construction and engineering disputes.

Experience

Laura acts for some of the UK’s largest public and private sector clients and is a key contact within DWF for construction and engineering matters.

Throughout her career, Laura has been instructed in some of Scotland’s most significant construction disputes.  She represents a broad range of clients—from public bodies and private individuals to employers involved in major construction projects.  In addition to handling contractual disputes concerning payment, delay, and defects, Laura leverages her sector knowledge to pursue and defend professional negligence claims against construction professionals.

Laura is highly skilled in resolving disputes through negotiation, adjudication, mediation, arbitration and litigation.  She also supports clients throughout the lifecycle of a project, advising on contract administration, compliance, risk management and dispute avoidance - often delivering commercial and strategic guidance under pressure.

Domestically, Laura has extensive experience representing clients in the Ordinary and Commercial Courts, in Petitions (to the Nobile Officium; for suspension and interdict; and for judicial review) and in appeals before the Inner House of the Court of Session.  Across the wider UK, she represents clients in adjudications, arbitrations and mediations; and has acted in cases before the UK IPO and the UK Supreme Court.
