Experience
Javier has been involved in some of the biggest insurance cases relating to financial lines products (directors and officers, professional liability, workplace accidents and cyber security), property damage, general liability, environmental liability, and product liability.His litigation experience also includes disputes relating to M&A transactions, engineering and construction projects, damages for competition infringements and defective products, mass torts, directors' and officers' liability, and agency and distribution disputes.
In the contractual sphere, he advises on the interpretation and negotiation of policies, as well as on the underwriting of risks in general. He also advises on the analysis and execution of investments in litigation assets (litigation funding) and insurance policies for lawsuits and legal contingencies.
Prior to joining RCD, Javier advanced in his professional career at other domestic and international law firms such as Clifford Chance, Deloitte, Garrigues, and Cuatrecasas. In 2023, he completed a secondment in the legal department of a litigation fund.
Memberships
- Associate professor in the Department of Commercial Law at Pompeu Fabra University. He also teaches, among other subjects, Civil and Commercial Litigation and Insurance Market Law in the Master's Degree in Access to the Legal Profession at the UPF Barcelona School of Management.
- Member of the Spanish Association of Lawyers Specialising in Civil Liability and Insurance and the Association of Young Insurance Professionals.
