DWF advises CCGT Grudziądz on a package of contracts with Siemens and Mytilineos for the construction and maintenance of the CCGT unit

23 May 2022

DWF lawyers in Poland advised CCGT Grudziądz, a special purpose vehicle of the Orlen Capital Group, on the conclusion of EPC and LTSA contracts with a consortium of Siemens and Mytilineos.

The power plant in Grudziądz, which is scheduled to be commissioned in 2025, will be one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Europe and will play an important role in ensuring Poland's energy security. Based on the concluded contracts a gas-steam block with a generation capacity of over 550 MW will be constructed. The investment will be carried out by a consortium of companies: Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co KG, Siemens Energy Sp. z o.o. and Mytilineos S.A. The works are to start this year.

DWF lawyers advised CCGT Grudziądz from the beginning of the project in the full scope of investment implementation, including preparing and negotiating the EPC and LTSA contracts. The whole work was supervised by Maciej Antoniak (Local Partner) as well as Patrycja Treder (Senior Associate) and Dominika Jędrzejczyk (Senior Associate). The legal team involved included, among others, Tomasz Kaczmarek (Local Partner), Oskar Tułodziecki (Partner), Anna Kida (Associate), Adrian Jonca (Partner), Izabela Plis (Senior Associate), Paweł Stykowski (Local Partner), Piotr Kunicki (Partner), Marta Błachnio (Associate), Dominika Sarek (Associate), Zofia Porada (Junior Associate).

We are proud to support our clients in the implementation of key investments for the Polish economy. This is yet another project of strategic importance to the energy sector that we have had the opportunity to support from the very beginning of its implementation. Efficient legal support for this type of project is a challenge that requires a wide range of competences, with particular emphasis on financing, regulatory, contractual, insurance, intellectual property and tax matters. We are glad that as a firm we can support our clients in a comprehensive manner - emphasises Maciej Antoniak.
