DWF announces new senior appointment and six promotions in Newcastle

DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has announced the appointment of corporate partner James Bryce in its Newcastle office. The firm has also announced six promotions in Newcastle as part of its annual promotions process.

James Bryce brings extensive corporate experience to his new role at DWF, having joined after six years at NVM Private Equity LLP where he worked as a partner and head of legal and compliance. 

James brings significant specialist experience working on private equity, venture capital and M&A transactions having previously also worked in both regional and international law firms. He will join the DWF Venture Capital and Private Equity groups adding extensive governance and financial services compliance advice to transactions in those teams.

Commenting on his appointment, James said: "I'm thrilled to join the corporate team at DWF – its solid reputation, culture of innovation and commitment to technical excellence is what attracted me to the role and aligns perfectly with what I aim for in the market. It is important for me to be part of a firm and network that can work beyond the North East region and that can attract high quality clients and work."

As part of its annual promotions process, the business has also announced the promotion of six employees in its Newcastle office.

Jonathan Smith, who was already a partner in the Newcastle real estate team was promoted to a more senior level within the partnership. 

Further advancements in the real estate team included a promotion to senior associate for Grace Laws and promotion to associate for Abbey Eastwood and Sarah Rothwell. Meanwhile in the insurance team, Helen Fletcher was promoted to the position of senior associate and Julia Davison was promoted to associate.

Commenting on the recent appointments, Hilary Ross, UK & Ireland regional managing partner at DWF, said: "I'm delighted to welcome James as a fantastic addition to our team in Newcastle. He brings valuable expertise to his new role and we're excited to see the positive impact he'll make.
