Over his time in UK eDiscovery since 2019, David has built deep operational expertise across major review platforms including Relativity and OpenText, developing a particular specialism in scaling review operations from small teams to enterprise-level deployments without loss of quality or control. On his current matter, he took the review from 26 to 104 reviewers, designing the entire management architecture from first principles: a tiered pod structure with senior leads and dedicated QC leads, a statistical quality-control methodology combining risk-weighted sampling, blind consistency testing, and real-time distribution monitoring, and a defensibility framework ensuring every coding decision and calibration outcome is documented and auditable.His approach treats eDiscovery review as a discipline of applied statistics and systems design as much as legal judgement — building custom performance dashboards, reviewer consistency heatmaps, and escalation frameworks that have drawn attention from the firm’s eDiscovery technology team for potential adoption as standard practice.
Prior to his UK eDiscovery career, David spent approximately eight years in civil litigation practice in South Africa, giving him a strong grounding in the underlying legal reasoning that shapes sound review protocols — privilege assessment, relevance determination, and disclosure risk — which he brings directly into the operational frameworks he designs.
