Commenting on the announcement Mark Hickey said: “Serving as Chairman of DWF Asia-Pacific has been a great honour and experience for me over the last three years and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work with such a diverse and talented team in implementing the build and strategy of the Australian business.
“I am proud of what we have built over the last three years, in particular, the team of brilliant talented young lawyers representing DWF to our clients, over different business sectors. I have decided to move on and focus on select clients in defined national sectors. I am not going anywhere as a lawyer, client adviser and mentor to younger people and my clients. While my tenure as Chairman Asia-Pacific officially ends on 31st March, I will continue to assist my clients as their lawyer at DWF for some time thereafter to ensure a seamless transition of their work.”
Mark, who joined DWF in June 2018, will continue to lead the Corporate and Commercial practice until 31st March where he will assume a consultancy role with the firm. Prior to joining DWF, Mark served as Head of Commercial Corporate at Sparke Helmore Lawyers and served as Chairman of the Board at Sparke Helmore for more than three years. He continues to sit on the Board of Newcastle industry cluster HunterNet Cooperative and a number of other Boards.
Damien van Brunschot, DWF’s Managing Director Australia wished Mark well for the future and thanked him for his service to the firm.
“Mark has been instrumental in building DWF in Australia and we have all appreciated the efforts he has put in as Chair. On behalf of the entire firm, I would like to thank him for his dedication and leadership. Mark leaves DWF in a strong position and well placed to continue the growth in the Australian market.
