The DWF team, led by Partners Ben McLeod and Ruby Khan with support from Solicitor, Matthew Suter, assisted BT on the Project contracts, negotiations and provided day-to-day legal support. DWF was able to harmonize with the BT Legal team and act as a true extension of the in-house function to provide seamless support on a complex and time critical transaction.
Commenting on the project, Catherine Haslam, client lead partner at DWF, said, "It was great to be able to support BT on this really important project. As we have spent a lot of time working closely with BT through secondments and in developing our partnership model, we were able to quickly embed ourselves within the BT project team to provide a personalised and flexible approach to our legal counsel. Adopting this approach proved to be fundamental in enabling us to overcome the challenges presented by the onset of a global pandemic at a critical time in the project. This is an example of the great work that has come about as an extension of our strategic legal partnership with BT."
Paul Fleming, Legal Director of Networks at BT said, “The Mobile Cloud Core is an essential part of both our new core network and our convergence story. It was good to have Matt and Ben assist Prash Mehta, who led the deal for BT, to help get this over the line”.
Prash Mehta, Senior Commercial Lawyer at BT, added, “Having DWF’s support on the Mobile Cloud Core project demonstrates the strength of our strategic partnership. At all times during the transaction, we felt that they were part of our in house team, with a solid understanding of our objectives and priorities. This support, whilst heading into a UK wide lockdown showed great determination, resilience and team work.”
