Exploring how we can help men and boys for International Men's Day

International Men's Day aims to challenge stereotypes, raise awareness of men's well-being issues and celebrate the positive contributions men have on their communities. The theme this year is 'helping men and boys'. We therefore wanted to shine a light on the support mechanisms available to help men and boys be their best.


DWF appreciates the importance of celebrating the diversity within our organisation and the impact this can have on challenging stereotypes and achieving better gender equality.

Between 14 - 18 November we celebrated International Men's Day by sharing content covering five themes. 

Celebrating the contributions of men

To start the week we shared details of opportunities for male colleagues to volunteer and share their stories. We promoted our 5*Future events where colleagues can share their career journeys to inspire the next generation. We also shared a reminder of how colleagues can compliment one another via our recognition platform.


On Tuesday we launched the latest in our DWF Allies Overview video series on Gender Allyship. This 20-minute video explores the impact of the language we use related to gender, challenges faced by men and women, myths and tips for being a gender equality ally.


We focused on Men's Mental Health as part of our Wellbeing Wednesday feature in our all staff bulletin as well as sharing resources of men's physical and mental health.

Support for male colleagues

For Thursday we promoted the policies, benefits and support options available for male, trans and non-binary colleagues including information on family friendly policies, flexible working, wellbeing and employee assistance programmes.

Role models 

Promoting role models is one of the core pillars of International Men's Day so we closed our week of International Men's Day celebrations by sharing stories from intersectional role models from within our global organisation. These included colleagues sharing their experiences of neurodiversity, social mobility, workplace adjustments, career journeys, mental health, parenting, culture & heritage, and LGBTQIA+ identities.
