With extensive experience in insurance law and advising companies and international groups, Basso – who joins from Studio legale Scofone – will further enrich the insurance platform, which is one of DWF’s flagships in Italy and worldwide.
Graduated in Law from the University of Genoa, Basso has built his entire career in insurance law (credit and surety) and in judicial and extrajudicial consultancy for leading Italian and international companies, including in matters relating to the AI Act, blockchain, and smart contracts.
His appointment is part of a growth and consolidation strategy for the practice, enabling a structured approach across the entire spectrum of insurance business lines, supporting clients with a comprehensive and integrated approach both in claims management and in regulatory, compliance, and corporate M&A matters.
The introduction of a new sub-practice focused on surety bonds further expands the insurance services offered, helping to consolidate a practice that now spans all business lines and responds to increasing demand for specialisation in this strategic sector. It also helps to strengthen DWF’s position as the first global law firm to establish a dedicated presence in a field traditionally dominated by local and boutique firms, marking a significant evolution in the market. In this context, DWF’s Insurance Department stands out for its ability to support clients throughout the entire insurance value chain, integrating claims management, adjusting activities, regulatory advice, contractual support, and specialist legal assistance on a 360-degree basis.
