With more than 20 years of experience in civil, commercial and criminal litigation, Michael Cahn is involved in amicable and collective proceedings for the restructuring of companies. He has acquired a solid experience enabling him to deal with all issues relating to the protection of the directors' and shareholders' liability. His core activity extends to the litigation of these often complex situations.
Michael joined DWF's Paris office after having started his career at Granrut Vatier Baudelot (GVB) in 2000. In 2002, he joined the law firm Pardo Boulanger & Associés (PBA), with which he created the law firm Cahn & PBA in 2007 and took over the management of the company in 2009 under the name Cahn Avocats, which became Cahn Wilson in 2018.
At DWF, Michael joins the Finance & Restructuring practice alongside Richard Jadot, partner specialising in banking law who joined the firm a few months ago and Paul César, partner specialised in private debt.
Michael Cahn is accompanied by three Of counsels, Sarah Mincel, specialising in tax law, Gérard Fohlen-Weill, specialising in banking law and Richard Koplewicz, specialising in white collar criminal law, as well as a senior associate, Thomas Alho Antunes, specialising in insolvency law. The team will be joined by a junior associate in September 2022.
Michael Cahn, comments: "The ambitious development of the Paris office of DWF appealed to us and it is with enthusiasm that we join the business. Our expertise in assisting companies and their management teams during periods of financial distress will be further enhanced by the firm's global reach and DWF's areas of expertise, including insurance law. The cross-functional nature of this expertise will enable us to create new leverage for our clients and better meet their expectations. The choice of DWF, which was looking for a recognised restructuring practice, was an obvious one."
Jean-François Mercadier, Managing Partner of DWF in France, adds: "The arrival of this team is in line with DWF's strategy to be present, in France, in the areas of advice and litigation essential to the activities of companies operating in the sectors in which DWF specialises. The recognised expertise of Michael and his team in the area of corporate insolvency and the support of managers under D&O insurance policies fits perfectly with this strategy, particularly in the current economic climate."
Iain Shurwood, Global Head of Finance & Restructuring at DWF, continues: "We are delighted to welcome Michael and his team in the "Finance and Restructuring" practice at DWF. They complement the group offering very well and I am sure that we will be able to work with Michael on new projects for the benefit of our clients, both in France and abroad. Our common culture of teamwork and client sharing has been a fundamental element of this strategic development for our respective teams."
