DWF Managing Director up for top honours at Lawyers Weekly Awards

09 April 2019
Managing Director Jamie McPherson announced as Finalist in Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards for 2019.

DWF has today announced that Jamie McPherson has been named in the Lawyers Weekly’s Partner of the Year Awards list of honourees for 2019 in the category of Workplace Health and Safety Relations.

The Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards, in partnership with Taylor Root, showcases outstanding performance by partners, or partner equivalent, across individual practice areas within the Australian legal industry —the only national awards program to do so.

In the shortlist just announced today, Brisbane-based Jamie is a finalist in the category of Workplace Health and Safety Relations Partner of the Year.  The awards acknowledge the achievements of Australian lawyers demonstrating leadership, technical expertise, mentorship and business development.

Jamie has over 20 years’ experience in Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), Employment Law and Queensland Workers’ Compensation and has acted for a wide range of corporations in the construction, property, logistics, environmental services, leisure and energy sectors, as well as major state Government agencies and authorities. He is also recognised as a leading personal injuries lawyer and has been instrumental in developing one of the Queensland’s largest WorkCover and self-insurance practices.

Mark Hickey, Chairman of DWF Asia Pacific, said: "We are extremely proud of Jamie for this acknowledgement by Lawyers Weekly.  This is thoroughly well deserved as he is one of the best lawyers globally in his category and is well respected by clients as well as peers for his technical ability and commercial track record.”

DWF entered the Australian legal market in 2017 and has since opened four offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Newcastle. DWF Australia now employs more than 130 people in Australia, including 24 principal lawyers and more than 60 other fee earners providing our clients with a range of complex, managed and connected services.

*As of 1 February, DWF Australia became an Incorporated Legal Practice (ILP). Under this new corporate structure, the title of partner has changed to principal lawyer.
