DWF appoints Head of Real Estate sector in Australia

DWF in Australia has announced the appointment of Richard Abbott as a Principal Lawyer in its national corporate and commercial practice and Head of the Real Estate sector in Australia.
Richard joins DWF from the Sydney office of international firm HFW where he was an equity partner leading a team of specialist real estate lawyers.

Richard is appointed as Head of the Real Estate sector in Australia, and I look forward to growing this sector with him".

At DWF, Richard will continue to specialise in high end, complex property transactions, applying his in-depth understanding of the commercial property sector together with more than 25 years' experience in transaction structuring, joint ventures, acquisitions and disposals, development, investment and capital raising.

Prior to HFW, Richard spent 13 years at Holding Redlich, where he was an equity partner with responsibility for management of the property team and major capital transactions. Before Holding Redlich, Richard was a Senior Associate at Mallesons Stephens Jaques.

Richard's Australian property law expertise has previously been recognised by Legal 500 Australia, Who's Who Legal 2018 and Doyle's Guide. 

Richard's appointment, along with the 16 hires from McDonald Johnson Lawyers, brings the total number of employees to over 180 across DWF's four locations, (Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney).
