From discussing the future of Legal Operations, implementing legal tech and improving ESG in Law Departments, Mindcrest relished the opportunity to connect with industry peers in 2022. Here are some of the highlights:
Small Circles, Big Ideas
Throughout the year, Mindcrest was a proud partner of Consero where we had the opportunity to moderate five panels targeted at decision-makers and thought leaders. In these intimate settings across the United States, Mindcrest’s leaders spoke with general counsel, vice presidents and other key stakeholders from large corporations about the changing legal landscape and innovations in legal services.
From talking with General Counsel about the importance of ESG and building a strong in-house bench, to starting a Legal Operations function from scratch and all the benefits that come with it, Consero’s legal events provided avenues for great conversations and collaboration between industry peers.
Sandcastles and Superheroes
How does an innovative organization warm up prospects at autumn events? We bring a beach!
At Legal Geek in London in September, Mindcrest debuted our new ‘sandbox’ concept, shunning the otherwise chilly autumn weather bringing a much-needed sunny infusion of ice cream, candy floss, beach balls and summer fun to the event. Mindcrest invited participants to test their skills in sandcastle building, with a £500 prize donation to a charity of choice for the person who could build the most in the allotted time. The contestants discovered that, just like with legal tech, using the right tools, strategy and persistence, brings them better results.
Rachita Maker, Mindcrest’s Global Head of Legal Operations, Consulting & Technology was a featured speaker at Legal Geek, taking the stage as Wonder Woman to demonstrate how proper use of legal tech can save the day. You can see Rachita in action here.
Next up, we brought out the sunshine and sand box in Las Vegas at the Association of Corporate Counsel Annual Meeting, 23-26 October. With 3,000 legal professionals descending upon Las Vegas, attendees delighted in the concept and tried their hand at becoming the US champion at sandcastle building. While the participants learned about the value of a proper plan when trying to win, our team were more than happy to speak about our brand new fully managed service, Contract+, which brings a personalized CLM plan to our clients.
Getting Invested with Legal Ops
Legal Operations has grown by leaps and bounds over the past decade and 2022 was no exception. Evolutions in this industry were at the forefront of several events.
Craig Chaplin, Mindcrest’s Commercial Director, had the opportunity to see first-hand the growth of Legal Operations at the Luxatia World Legal Operations Summit in Berlin. Things are getting quite serious, he reports, as many large corporations and even smaller organisations are opening up dedicated legal ops roles. Still, there is a lot of work to be done to win stakeholder support and create internal victories. Craig’s key takeaways can be found here.
In May, Mindcrest made our return to the CLOC Global Institute after a three-year hiatus. Amidst the bright Las Vegas lights and rows of dazzling vendor booths, our Senior Vice President Vishal Anand found that General Counsel are more engaged and ready to understand what Legal OPs should mean for their own organization, but the concept is still evolving. Read more of Vishal’s takeaways here.
