Simon acts on behalf of local authorities across the country in the defence of Employer's Liability and Public Liability claims. Simon is routinely instructed to deal with catastrophic injury claims to include traumatic brain injuries, para and tetraplegia cases. Simon has advised local authorities on most conceivable types of claims that may be presented. He has frequently represented local authority clients in complex inquest proceedings in the areas of adult services and leaving care social work.
Simon also advises insurers in the defence of clinical negligence claims. He has successfully acted on behalf of cosmetic, general and bariatric surgeons, together with radiographers, GP's and dental surgeons. He also represents clients in inquest proceedings where a death has occurred during or following medical procedures. Simon strives to protect the reputation and good standing of the medical professionals, while developing a relationship of trust with his clients, and adopts a robust approach to defending such claims.
Simon also acts on behalf of fertility clinics, therapists and cosmetic practitioners who offer non-surgical treatments such as botox, chemical peels and laser hair removal.
Simon also acts for non-public sector clients through his work with Lloyd's Syndicates. He is frequently asked to assist with the defence of complex EL claims, often where labour-only workers are supplied by agencies to work under the control of other parties. He also defends disease claims such as mesothelioma, silicosis and noise-induced hearing loss claims. In addition he advises on property damage claims, particularly fire damage.
Simon is also frequently instructed to advise Lloyd's Syndicates on complex policy coverage issues arising from material non-disclosure, failures on the part of policyholders to comply with a condition precedent to underwriter's liability and also territorial coverage issues. Simon has worked on coverage issues ranging from data protection breaches through to historic claims where there is frequently more than one insurer on risk and the abuse is continuing.
