Konstantina Zariou

Associate

Konstantina is an Associate in the Marine team at DWF. She advises on shipping, marine insurance and international trade matters, with experience in both contentious and transactional work. Her approach is commercially focused, with a strong grounding in cross-border disputes and industry-specific risks.

Experience

Konstantina is a disputes-focused lawyer with a broad practice covering shipping, marine insurance, aviation and international trade. She has acted on complex litigation and arbitration matters, including proceedings before the High Court and Court of Appeal in England and Wales, as well as arbitrations under LMAA, ICC and LCIA rules.

Her work includes high-profile matters arising from marine casualties, groundings, collisions, and pollution incidents. She has advised on charterparty and cargo disputes, limitation issues and enforcement actions. Konstantina has also worked on aviation-related litigation, including regulatory and insurance-based claims involving international carriers.

She completed a secondment with the claims team at a London-based specialty insurer, supporting on both marine and aviation matters with a focus on coverage, liability and policy interpretation.

In the marine space, Konstantina has represented shipowners, charterers and P&I clubs, gaining practical experience in casualty response, claims handling and recovery proceedings. 
On the transactional side, she has assisted clients on the sale, purchase and financing of commercial vessels, including reviewing and drafting contracts and loan documentation.

She holds a Master’s degree in International Commercial Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam, with a specialisation in International Arbitration and Business Law. During her postgraduate studies, she was a member of the university’s Willem C. Vis Moot team, developing advocacy skills in international arbitration.
Before joining DWF, Konstantina trained and practised at a specialist London-based shipping and commercial litigation firm.
