Richard specialises in advising insurers. He has wide experience of handling complex and high value employer and public liability claims with particular experience of disease, construction and crane hire claims.
Richard has over 20 years' experience in insurance litigation advising on all aspects of complex and high value employer and public liability personal injury claims with expertise in disease litigation including asbestos-related illness (mesothelioma), stress, deafness, vibration white finger and WRULD.
He also specialises in claims from the manufacturing sector, construction and crane hire, involving advice on Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, CPA contract interpretation and regulations governing the crane industry.
He represented the successful defendant in Robert Smith v Portswood House Limited [2016] EWHC 939 (QB) the court reiterates burden of proof on claimant to prove negligent exposure to asbestos, and clarifies meaning of “substantial dust” as set out in Factories Acts.
Outside of the office, Richard enjoys basketball and cycling and driving his three children to various sporting, social and musical events.
