DWF announces 11 Principals named in global Best Lawyers list

22 March 2019

DWF has announced that 11 of its Principals have been acknowledged as Best Lawyers in the 2020 Australia edition of Best Lawyers®, compiled by the world’s most respected peer review publication in the legal profession.

Best Lawyers lists legal practitioners voted for by their peers around the world, for leadership in their area of practice.   This year 38% of DWF Principal Lawyers* were included in the listing.

Brisbane-based Managing Director Jamie McPherson as well as Andrew Ross, Matthew Smith, Kara Thomson and Damien van Brunschot were acknowledged.  In Newcastle Brendan Tobin was listed, whilst in Sydney Ben Burney, Kristen Farmer, Adam Fuller and Jason Lambeth were recognised for excellence in their area of practice by their peers.  Mark Hickey, Chairman (Asia Pacific) who works across both Newcastle and Sydney, was also listed.

Mark Hickey, Chairman of DWF Asia Pacific, said: "We are delighted to be recognised in the Best Lawyers listings across so many practice areas.  We are growing at a fast pace around the world and we believe this listing is testament to the success we have attracting top talent to our business.”

DWF entered the Australian legal market in 2017 and has since opened four offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Newcastle. DWF Australia now employs more than 130 people in Australia, including 24 principal lawyers and more than 60 other fee earners providing our clients with a range of complex, managed and connected services.

*As of 1 February, DWF Australia became an Incorporated Legal Practice (ILP). Under this new corporate structure, the title of partner has changed to principal lawyer.
