Experience

Karol heads the Energy Department and the Renewable Energy Department of DWF Poland. His expertise focuses on renewable energy sources, both onshore  and offshore, PV, energy storage, grids and hydrogen. 

He is deeply engaged in the activities of associations and parliamentary groups related to RES. Since 2018, he has been an expert of the Parliamentary Offshore Wind Energy Group and - for many years - a member of the Steering Committee of the Polish Wind Energy Association.

He also advises Polish and foreign enterprises from all industry sectors with respect to legal compliance issues.

Solar Power:

  • Advising Polish and foreign entrepreneurs on starting up their PV businesses in Poland.
  • Advising Polish and foreign investors on legal issues concerning auctions for the purchase of RES electricity.
  • Preparing interpretations of issues resulting from the Law on Renewable Energy Sources.
  • Representing investors and developers in solar M&A projects.

Onshore wind energy:

  • Advising investors on utilizing the investment protection provided for by the Energy Charter Treaty and BIT treaties.
  • Providing legal consulting services on a variety of projects involving more than 50 windfarms with a combined capacity of over 4,000 MW.
  • Representing leading power producers in negotiations, administrative and court proceedings with respect to grid connection agreements, as well as agreements on transmission or distribution services, including the first successful case before the Supreme Court on the definition of costs of connection of energy sources to the electricity grid.
  • Representing dozens of investors of wind farms in M&As involving both shares and assets.
  • Advising with respect to negotiating and concluding a number of certificate and energy purchase agreements (CPA/PPA).
