Strengthening our position as a leading legal advisor in the nuclear sector.
DWF has been working alongside the NDA for a number of years on the Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor (AGR) project, supporting the safe and efficient decommissioning of the UK’s AGR fleet.
This prestigious appointment follows DWF’s recent success in securing a place on the Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) legal panel. NRS, formerly Magnox Ltd, is responsible for the safe decommissioning of the UK’s first-generation nuclear power stations and research sites, including Berkeley, Dungeness A, Harwell, and Wylfa.
These appointments reflect DWF’s deep expertise and long-standing commitment to the nuclear industry, where the firm has advised on a wide range of complex legal matters including regulatory compliance, decommissioning strategy, nuclear liability, and infrastructure development.
The new panel will support the NDA Group across commercial, employment, regulatory, health & safety, transport, data protection, subsidy control, procurement, construction and engineering, information and data protection law, environmental, property, planning, dispute resolution and competition law matters—requiring a multi disciplinary approach aligned to one of the UK’s most complex and strategically important public sector programmes.
Darren Walsh, Partner and Global Head of Energy at DWF, commented: “We are proud to be appointed to both the NDA and NRS legal panels. These appointments are a testament to our team’s deep sector knowledge, technical excellence, and proven track record in supporting the UK’s nuclear decommissioning mission. As the UK continues its journey toward a low-carbon future, we are committed to playing a key role in enabling safe, sustainable, and innovative solutions across the nuclear lifecycle.”
DWF’s Energy & Climate team has advised on nuclear projects across the UK and internationally, including new nuclear build, waste management, and the transport of radioactive materials. The firm’s cross-disciplinary approach brings together legal, regulatory, and commercial expertise to support clients operating in one of the most highly regulated and safety-critical sectors.
These appointments reinforce DWF’s strategic focus on the energy transition and its role in supporting public sector bodies and private enterprises in delivering complex infrastructure and sustainability goals.
