The Act aims to encourage responsible AI development and deployment in the EU. Our panellists summarised what an AI system is, its risks and benefits with the requirements for high risk AI systems and how we should approach assessing the potential risks of AI systems.
The insights provided by our senior team of data protection and cyber security experts shed light on a number of ways our clients can ensure they comply with the Act and introduce an internal AI governance programme. DWF highlighted nine key principles to consider when starting an AI governance programme.
This overview of the Act provided our attendees with a vision of the future of data protection and cyber security law. By introducing new controls and reiterating key principles of the Act, we hope to equip them with the necessary knowledge and measures to help navigate their way through the ever-changing law on AI.
Our next Breakfast Briefing will take place online on 31 October 2024 and will focus on Data Subject Access Requests ("DSARs"). Our expert team members will be providing insights into how to manage and respond to DSARs, including extensions of time, application of exemptions and key considerations to be had throughout the process.
