The session provided practical advice on how to:
- turn subsidised arenas, theatres, music venues and conferences/ exhibition facilities into concession opportunities involving payments to public sector bodies;
- attract private sector / support public sector investment into your facilities, and deliver projects that maximise outputs from existing public funding;
- attract market-leading operators to improve the leisure and culture offer to local residents and attract new visitors to an area;
- improve the financial performance of existing venues;
- ensure that the operating model and terms of reference/ engagement are aligned with your priorities as the venue owner; and
- maximise competition (and value) through a short and focussed procurement procedure alongside a subsidy control compliant legal structure.
The webinar used anonymised examples from case studies of successfully completed projects as the backdrop to show what can be achieved.
