UK steps up Brexit preparedness communications: The Cabinet Office has launched a major get ready for Brexit campaign.  The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has launched a £10m grant funding programme for business organisations to support businesses in preparing for Brexit. View > View >

Background information on ‘Prorogation’ of parliament: Whilst no official announcements have been made this week the UK parliament website includes a House of Commons briefing paper from June 2019 exploring prorogation. View > View >

 

Devolved administrations: The Scottish Government has called for clarity as to the financial impact of a no deal Brexit and has jointly called with the Welsh Government for a new financial settlement in order to deal with the impact of a no deal Brexit. View > View >

 

British Retail Consortium reject Government claims that a no deal Brexit will not lead to food shortages: The BRC have highlighted that the Government’s own assessments showed that the flow of goods through the channel crossings could be reduced by 40-60% from day 1, as would the “availability and choice” of some foods. The BRC’s own assessment has shown that soft fruits and vegetables, such as strawberries, tomatoes and lettuces, would likely see reduced availability as they are largely imported during the winter months. View >
