Red lines evident as round 8 of UK/EU future partnership negotiations due to commence: EU Commission Chief Negotiator Michel Barnier has delivered a key note addressed to the Irish Institute for International and European Affairs in which he reiterated EU requirements to guarantee fair and open competition, access to fisheries and a dispute resolution mechanism. Mr Barnier highlighted a speech by the UK Environment Agency Chief Executive which suggested that UK water standards would be less rigorous than EU requirements following Brexit to support the EU negotiating position.   • The Department for International Trade has announced the names of members of a new Board of Trade. The board intend to meet quarterly and will engage extensively with industry, communities, farmers and consumer groups across the UK, to ensure a range of voices are heard as the UK develops its independent trade policy.
