Scottish government steps up opposition to UK single market plan: In a briefing to the Scottish Parliament Finance and Constitution Committee the Scottish government has published a 21 page paper setting out in detail opposition to the single market plan. The Chair of Food Standards Scotland has published a paper setting out their position with regard to food standards 'Creating a new UK organisation to adjudicate on market interventions in the consumers’ interests when it doesn’t have food law expertise with a sole focus on cost, risks replicating expensive historical mistakes'.
