German recovery from COVID-19 will be slow and painful, data shows

German industrial orders rebounded moderately in May and a fifth of firms in Europe’s biggest economy said in a survey published on Monday they feared insolvency, adding to expectations of a slow and painful recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. 


Pret A Manger to shut 30 outlets as job cuts loom

Coffee chain Pret A Manager is to close 30 of its 410 UK outlets as part of a post-pandemic restructuring. It is also planning job cuts to "reduce headcount across remaining UK shops to reflect lower footfall, rental costs and new safety measures".

Greece has banned all but essential travel from Serbia as infection numbers steadily rise in the Balkan country. For a week from Monday morning, all entry points are closed to Serbian travellers, Greek officials said.
