Advertising watchdog upholds Tesco complaint re Aldi price comparison advertising: The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint by Tesco regarding Aldi ‘Switch to Aldi and Save’ price claims on the basis that the items included in the basket comparison did not represent the items that would appear in a typical weekly shop. View >

 

Consultations on employment law changes and new enforcement body: The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has issued a consultation on proposals to tackle ‘one sided flexibility’ in employment contracts and also on setting up a new enforcement body to enforce employment rules. Consultation on increasing age of sale limit for national lottery scratch cards: The Department for Digital, Media, Communications and Sport (DDCMS) has issued a consultation on increasing the minimum age for the purchase of national lottery scratch cards to 18. Government response on furniture and furnishings fire safety: BEIS has published proposals to develop ‘essential requirements’ for fire safety to replace the existing Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety Regulations. There will be a further consultation on the essential requirements and accompanying business guidance once developed.  View >  View >

Recycling plans: Business organisations have responded to comments by DEFRA Secretary Michael Gove on an ‘all in’ approach to a deposit return scheme for single trip packaging. LGA >  BBPA >   ACS >
