‘From price’ ruled misleading: The Advertising Standards Authority has ruled that Eurostar was wrong to claim London to Paris prices ‘from £29’ as a significant proportion of the tickets were not available at the advertised lowest price in line with the Chartered Trading Standards Institute pricing code. View >

 

Alcohol advertising complaints not upheld: The ASA has rejected complaints about TV advertising for Corona and a leaflet for night time alcohol delivery service ‘Drink On’ on the basis that they did not promote irresponsible practices or excessive consumption. View >

 

Major report on packaging waste recovery system published: The National Audit Office has published a report at the request of the Environmental Audit Committee on the impact of the producer responsibility for packaging waste recovery regime that has been operating in the UK since 1999. The conclusions are that the regime whilst increasing recovery rates hasn’t fully delivered required outcomes. View >

EU Chief Negotiator publishes an ‘Op-ed’: Michel Barnier has written a brief update on the current position with regard to negotiation of the withdrawal agreement and discussions with regard to future partnership. Michel highlighted that protection of geographical indications with regard to food has yet to be agreed. The Scottish Government has commented on the need to agree recognition and ongoing protection of Scottish Food names.  View >
