Advertising ruling on 100% natural ingredients claim: The Advertising Standards Authority has ruled in a case involving United Biscuits that a 100% natural ingredients claim cannot be made where processed ingredients such as Sunflower Oil and Reduced Fat Cocoa are present. View >

 

Retail sector launches sustainability initiative: The British Retail Consortium has announced a major initiative signed up to by 25 major UK retailers to deliver pledges on sustainability around fair employment practices in supply chains, tackling deforestation, waste and greenhouse gas emissions. View >

 

Spring statement includes exploration of tax measures to reduce single trip plastic waste:The Chancellor of the Exchequers Spring financial statement included references to launch of a call for evidence by HM Treasury on use of tax measures to reduce plastic waste – Closes 18th May. Other measures included £189m to Government departments to prepare for Brexit, commitments to ensuring prompt payment, taxation plans for digital businesses and to consult on air quality plans. European Parliament recommends ‘Association agreement with UK: MEP’s have voted in favour of a resolution recommending an association agreement covering trade and economic relations (FTA), internal security, cooperation in foreign policy and defence and thematic cooperation, for example on cross-border research and innovation projects. View >
