DWF advises on sixth transaction for Aliter Capital with latest acquisition

14 December 2018

DWF has advised Boston Networks and its private equity fund backer Aliter Capital, in Boston's acquisition of 20/20 Vision Systems Limited. This is the sixth deal DWF has supported Aliter with since it was founded in 2016.

Earlier this year, the business made an undisclosed investment to take a majority stake in Glasgow's Boston Networks, which specialises in wired and wireless systems for 'intelligent' buildings. Aliter is focused on developing a fire, security and IT networking services business with national coverage and a diversified blue-chip customer base.

20/20 Vision Systems is a security services integrator with a focus on high-end converged security systems involving IP connectivity. The strategic acquisition will build Boston Networks’ market presence across North East England, offering a wide range of services covering multiple end-user markets.

Gemma Gallagher, senior associate, and Paul Pignatelli, partner of DWF's Glasgow office led the acquisition team, supported by directors Alan Glen and Caroline Colliston and solicitors Eilidh Durkin, Siobhan Cameron, Mikela Rochford, Freya Gibb, Vicki Thomas and Oliver Lovett.

The senior management team at 20/20 Vision will continue to manage the business and work alongside Scott McEwan, CEO of Boston Networks.

Greig Brown, partner of Aliter Capital and chairman of Boston Networks said: “We are delighted to have successfully concluded the acquisition of a well-established regional business that will enhance our strategy to create a national services provider.”

DWF's Paul Pignatelli said: "We have developed a long-standing relationship with our client Aliter and we're pleased to advise them on their continued strategic growth. In developing a broad network, the business is in pole position to drive both the organic and acquisitive growth of the combined Group with Boston Networks."

DWF's Corporate team in Glasgow has advised on a range of high profile transactions in the last year including the recent £32m cross-border sale of Scottish outdoor advertising company Forrest Media to London-based Ocean Outdoor and advising Capita plc on the sale of Supplier Assessment Services, including its construction line operation, for £160 million.
