Experience
Having worked as a pensions lawyer in some of the City's leading pensions practices and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a large consultancy, Liz has significant experience advising on all aspects of pensions law. In particular: End game and derisking: As well as traditional buy-in and buy-out transaction, Liz was the legal lead in designing and negotiating the Capital Backed Journey Plan, the only "bridge to buy-out" solution to have been transacted in the UK.
She has also advised new entrants into the consolidator and alternative de-risking market. ESG: Liz has also considerable experience advising trustees and employers on pensions aspects of ESG, ED&I and governance including in respect of adopting net zero strategies, TCFD reporting, portfolio and benefit design and pensions governance reviews for both employers and trustees.
Liz uses this experience and her wider experience advising on pensions investments in her role on the Association of Pension Lawyers Investment and Defined Contribution sub-committee.
Transactions and regulatory: Liz is also experienced in pensions aspects of mergers and acquisitions and both solvent and distressed restructurings. Through this work she has gained extensive experience supporting Trustees and Employers in respect of regulatory engagement, investigations and interventions in respect the Pensions Regulator, the FCA and HMRC. This has included advising on Regulated Apportionment Arrangements, Moral Hazard investigations, applications for registration and de-registration (including winding up an in-house asset manager) and court applications.
