Legal business DWF has announced that it has joined as the latest sponsor of Manchester's biggest ever public art trail, Bee in the City, which will see 80 supersized Bee sculptures displayed around the city's streets, parks and public spaces.

Organised by Wild in Art, a producer of mass-participation public art events, and backed by Manchester City Council, the event aims to connect corporate, public and community partners with the creative sector.

All sponsors will adopt a 3D Bee sculpture, with local artists pitching to be commissioned to design the artwork for the piece. Once the sponsors have previewed and selected a bespoke design, they will commission the artists to customise their Bee before the event launches this July. Local schools and community groups are also encouraged to get involved by adopting and designing smaller Bee sculptures. The nine-week experience is expected to see more than one million people visit the city to take part in numerous creative learning and community programmes which will run alongside the event. Through the sponsorship, DWF, with its head office in Spinningfields, will also help to support these engagement programmes.

Kirsty Rogers, Executive Partner of DWF Manchester, said: "DWF was established in the North West and we're proud to be headquartered in such a vibrant city. We have a long-standing commitment to supporting our local community and engaging our people in charitable activities, whether it be via fund-raisers, sporting races or creative events. Bee in the City is the perfect opportunity to promote and relay our brand values as well as supporting the city and just having some fun in the meantime."

At the end of the event, the bees will be auctioned off and all proceeds raised will go towards The Lord Mayor of Manchester's We Love MCR Charity, which is aimed at improving the lives and life chances of Manchester people.
